If you’re new here- Winnow doesn’t have any recipes with refined sugar. Instead recipes consist of unrefined sugars like honey, maple syrup, coconut sugar etc. These sugars tend to be easier for those to process that have inflammatory issues, those who are trying to stick to a paleo diet or simply want to cut back on processed sugars for a slew of other reasons.
This recipe is lightly sweetened with the coconut flakes but its main purpose is to serve as a garnish to baked goods. I make a large batch of this and pull from the jar whenever I need powdered sugar. Since it keeps for a while it’s easier to make a batch ahead of time rather than mixing the 1:1 mixture per recipe.
1 c. arrowroot powder
Blend coconut and arrowroot powder in a high speed blender for about 30-60 seconds or until texture resembles powdered sugar. The coconut should be a fine powder at that point. Store in pantry in an airtight jar.
