Browned Butter Chocolate Almond Rice Crispy Treats
It can’t get any easier than these no bake Rice Crispie Treats. They are so simple to throw together and require zero marshmallows so they are vegetarian and have zero corn syrup! Yay for refined sugar free treats that taste even better than the real thing!
Browned Butter Rice Krispie Treats with Chocolate and Almonds
1 stick of unsalted butter (8 tbsp)
Pinch of salt
⅓ c. maple syrup
¼ c. honey
⅔ c. creamy almond butter
5 ½ c. rice crispies (I like using these)
10 oz. unsweetened dark chocolate
¼ c. coconut sugar
¼ c. slivered almonds for topping
flakey sea salt as garnish
Line a 9x13 inch baking dish with parchment paper.
In a double boiler melt the dark chocolate. Once chocolate is melted and smooth, gradually add coconut sugar a little at a time and stir until dissolved.
While chocolate is melting, add butter to a large skillet over medium heat. Stir often and heat until butter is lightly browned and add a pinch of salt. Remove from the heat and add maple syrup, honey, and almond butter. Stir until smooth. Stir in rice crispies, carefully tossing until well combined. Spread the mix out in to the lined pan and pack it down tightly.
Pour the melted chocolate over the rice crispies in the pan and spread into an even layer. Sprinkle the almond slivers over top of the chocolate. Transfer the bars to the fridge and chill for about an hour or until chocolate is set. Remove from fridge and top with flakey salt. Cut into bars. Store any leftovers in the fridge.
